RE: NO LAUNCHING AT HAMMOND MARINA PRIOR TO SUNDAY, APRIL 29, 2018

WRBC MEMBERS:

I have received confirmation from Milan at the Hammond Marina that the Whiting Robertsdale Boat Club (WRBC) Members will be allowed to launch at the Hammond Marina Facility during the dredging operations that is going on at our launch.  Milan has asked that no one launch prior to Sunday, April 29th.  The Marina has to put all of the boats currently on stands in their lot into the Marina on Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28So there will be no public launching allowed.

Again, I want to stress, do not launch prior to Sunday, April 29.

He has opened up his Marina for our entire membership. This includes Members who are from out of town and out of state. You must have your Membership Card available in order to enter at the entrance gate. The guard at the entrance gate will have a WRBC Membership List that they will compare to your card. Please if for some reason you are not on the list or there is an issue, do not argue with the entrance guard, but pay the fee, save the receipt, and the Boat Club will reimburse you. I don't foresee any problems occurring during this period.  We are truly in debt to Milan as he has helped us every time we have asked, so please be courteous to his staff so we may continue this great relationship.

RE:     COAST GUARD AUXILIARY FREE BOAT INSPECTIONS MAY 5, 2018 - 10AM til 2PM

Just as a reminder, the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be conducting vessel safety inspections free of charge for anyone who wants their boats inspected. This is not just for safety but you will also receive a sticker for your boat window that will prevent future inspections during this year on the lake.  Please lets try to have a good turnout as these Coast Guard personnel do this on a voluntary basis and we want them to continue to work with us in the future.  The inspections will be held either at our parking area by the launch or down by the parking area next to the lifeguard and storage building depending on the dredging.

The inspections will be on Saturday, May 5, 2018 starting at 10AM and continue til 2PM.

Hope to see you all there.

Thank you,

RE: DREDGING PROJECT - BOAT RAMP CLOSURE - BOAT INSPECTION

To all WRBC Members:

1-    On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, the City will begin its Dredging Project and that the Boat Ramp will be closed the duration of approximately 3 weeks.

2-    On Monday April 23, 2018 at 8:30AM the earliest, we may need some volunteers to help in any capacity that the City of Whiting might request. The City is requesting a couple of guys with waders and neoprene gloves to help with several large geotextile tubes. (Please review the email from the City of Whiting, Bruce Stolman attached below.)

3-    Boat Inspections are still scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, 2018 from 10AM to 2PM. This is open to any boat club member and the public.

4-    Just an FYI---They are still catching limits of coho off shore with night crawlers and body baits.

Hope to see everyone at our next meeting on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 for more of the dredging operation.  This topic will be discussed.

Thanks,
Mike Hill
WRBC Commodore

Subject: Whiting Dredge Project

Hi Bob,
Looks like we will be able to stick with the Monday April 23rd set-up.  8:30 am would be the earliest that we would need assistance, so there is no point in getting there earlier because that would most likely be standing around time.

We may be in need of a couple of guys with waders, if they have them handy.  If they have a pair of neoprene gloves with them, that would be a plus.

Our plan is to unroll several of the large geotextile tubes.  Just having some guys to help stand on them as they are unrolled to keep them in place would be helpful.  It is supposed to be a nice day, so that is good news.

We will begin dredging on Tuesday.  I don’t know if we will need much help on that day, but if we have several safety guys watching the operation, that can’t hurt.

Please spread the word that we plan to completely close the launch for the duration of the dredging operation, approximately three weeks.   We have to play safe because we don’t know what to expect.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.
