RE: JULY MEETING CANCELED-DOCK PARTY-TRANSIENT SLIPS & BUOYS-GUEST SPEAKER

MEMBERS,

RE:    JULY MEETING WAS CANCELED

As many of you know, those who were at the boat club building on meeting day July 30th and those of you who were stopped behind the train attempting to get to the boat club building were stuck by a stalled train that blocked both entrance ways into Whiting Park. I personally sat at 117th Street entrance from 6:20PM to 8:15PM.

I was in contact with Bob Mehok who made it across the tracks to the boat club building with about 12 members at that time and I decided to cancel the July meeting.  Those that were at the boat club building actually did not get out of Whiting Park until after 9PM that night.  The reason I was given for this stoppage was apparently there were NIPSCO lines blocking the tracks for this train to proceed. This is the first time for our club to have ever canceled a meeting. George Timko spoke with the Mayor about the issue.  I am waiting on his update.

We will catch up on all past agendas at our next meeting at the boat club building on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 7PM.

I apologize to anyone who was effected by this inconvenience or as it was completely out of our control.

RE:    WRBC DOCK PARTY - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2019

Please get your dock party forms in as soon as possible, as we need a head count. This is extremely important as we need to know how many attendants will be at the party so we can order the food appropriately.

Also, don't forget to please bring a dessert if you can.

RE:    CONCERNING THE TRANSIENT SLIPS & CHANNEL BUOYS

The three (3) pipes that were extending out of the slip have been removed.

I spoke with the City at the launch and they were there attempting to right and fix the ramp leading to the transient slips.  I was told this should be done by next week Wednesday or shortly there after.

The channel buoys are still not in place due to the high level of the lake.

RE:    GUEST SPEAKER FROM PERCH UNLIMITED AT AUGUST 27, 2019 MEETING

We will have a guest speaker Bruce, from Perch Unlimited about the ongoing walleye stocking of Wolf Lake.

Hope to see you at our August meeting.

RE:    PARKING STICKER

Please make sure that you obtain your 2019 Boat Club Parking Sticker if you have not already. As of 5-22-2019 the City has started their parking patrols and enforcement.
If you attempt to park in the Whiting Park area without a sticker, you will be subject to a fine of not less than $50.00 for your first offense.  The Boat Club will not reimburse you for this fine. It is your responsibility to get your Parking Sticker and affix it to your windshield on the left lower corner.  That doesn't mean laying it on your dashboard. It has to be attached to the windshield.

RE:    5TH ANNUAL KIDS FISHING DAY - JUNE 1, 2019 9AM-NOON at the HAMMOND MARINA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

WRBC is going to sponsor 30 kids this year at our 5th Annual Kids Fishing Day Event. So if anyone who is able to volunteer to help us, please show up no later than 9AM by the boat launch at the Hammond Marina. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Let's teach these kids the enjoyment of fishing.

RE:    BUOYS

I was informed by the Park Department that the navigational buoys should be installed in the harbor sometime this week weather permitting.  This will help aid navigation in and out of the harbor to Lake Michigan.

Remember to raise your lower unit and go slow keeping your vessel dead center of the channel that leads Out and In - as it shallows up if you drift North or South.

We have already had one prop destroyed.

RE:    SHED CONSTRUCTION

The foundation of the shed is complete and we should shortly complete construction of the new shed in the patio area.

Thank you for your cooperation in these matters.

Hope to see you at next months meeting.

P.S.    Salmon fishing has been tremendous again this season and the perch are starting to hit.

Enjoy your boating and fishing and as always, be safe. If it isn't safe, don't go.
