SUBJECTS: In Memory Of: - Catching Perch - Election Dinner 2018

To All WRBC Members,

RE:    IN MEMORY OF:

It was brought to my attention that Boat Club Member Jim Hoops father had past away recently on Nov. 15, 2017.
A Monetary Gift on behalf of the WRBC was sent to the family.

RE:  CATCHING PERCH

For those of you who are interested in Perch-there had been limits being caught at Montrose Harbor, Navy Pier, 87th and the Calumet Harbor / River in the past couple weeks.  So if you want a fresh perch dinner get out there and catch some.

RE:    ELECTION DINNER 2018

Just a reminder that our first meeting of the year 2018 Election Dinner will be at the Whiting American Legion Hall Post 80 across from Walgreen's parking lot on Indianapolis Boulevard on January 30, 2018 at 6:00pm with cocktails being served till 6:30pm. Dinner will start at 7:00pm.  Once everyone has eaten, the election meeting will begin.

Remember do not park in the Walgreen's parking lot, for your vehicle will be towed.

There will be a mailing in January regarding the Election Dinner, etc.

Keep in mind the Boat Club Building is open 24/7 throughout the winter months.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, I would like to wish everyone Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Happy Holidays,

Commodore's Notes - RE: LAST MEETING - THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS - ELECTION DINNER - NOTES

MEMBERS:

Our last meeting for the year will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 @ 7:00PM at the boat club building instead of Tuesday, October 31, 2017 because of Halloween running on the same day as our normally scheduled meetings.

As another year is coming to a close, I just want to say thank you to everybody who has helped make this club a great club throughout the year. In addition, thank you for all those who have helped volunteer again in all of our events and activities.

For our new members, I would like to remind them that this club has been in existence for 63 years and still going strong. As with any club, it takes involvement and dedication to make it successful.

I hope everyone has enjoyed this first full year at our new facility and looking forward to many more years of the same.

JUST A COUPLE NOTES BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS:

1. The building will be open through the winter months for everyone to use at their convenience.

2. As most everyone knows, we do not have monthly meetings in November or December, but will again resume for our first meeting on the last Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the American Legion, Post 80 in Whiting across from the Walgreen's parking lot for our annual Election Dinner. Further information regarding Election Dinner will follow via U.S. Mail.

Also, we will meet at the American Legion, Post 80 for the February and possibly March meetings, depending on the weather.

3. I have asked for an update on our Wi-Fi and flagpoles. I have not heard anything back from the City of Whiting as of yet.

4. Please continue to check our website for events that may be taking place in the next few months such as a Super Bowl Party, possible Poker Night, etc.

Last but not least, our Country is experiencing extreme peril. So I would like to leave you with something that was passed on to me...

For all who remember Red Skeleton. Please click on this commentary classic by him as he explains the meaning of the words in our "Pledge of Allegiance".

Again, Thank You,

Mike Hill

Commodores Report

Members please be advised:

1- The Whoa Zone has now been removed from the lake and is now finished for this year.

2- The Channel Buoys in the harbor have also been removed as of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Keep in mind these buoys are the City of Whitings property, not ours. You will now have to be extremely careful when launching your boats to access the big lake. Please try to stay dead center of the channel or you may run aground.

3- It has been brought to my attention that our Last Boat Club Meeting date for the year and Halloween fall on the same day, Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Due to this, I am asking everyone to meet the next day on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 instead. This will be the last meeting of the year. We do not conduct meetings in November or December due to hunting in November and Christmas in December. But please be aware that the Boat Club building will still be open and accessible year round. This includes November and December. We will announce this change to move the last meeting date at this Saturdays, September 9, 2017 Dock Party and again at our Tuesday, September 26, 2017 meeting.

Meetings will resume again on Tuesday, January, 30, 2018 at the American Legion Post 80 in Whiting for the 2018 Election Dinner. More information regarding the 2018 Election Dinner will follow in a future mailing.

Thank you all in advance,

RE: Jet Ski Race volunteers for August 12 & 13, 2017

Just a reminder that this race will be Saturday August 12th and Sunday August 13th, 2017.

I am still looking for any volunteers for one or both days.

I have worked out the details with the jet ski race coordinators regarding our WRBC agreement that we discussed at the boat club meeting on July 25th, 2017. The jet ski race coordinators are in agreement with the boat clubs concerns.

COMMODORE NOTES UPDATE

RE: CLUB HOUSE CLEAN UP, JET SKI RACE, TRAILER PARKING, SAFETY BOAT INSPECTION, KIDS FISHING DAY

1.  This is just a reminder that we are going to have a building & grounds clean up this coming Saturday, June 24, 2017. It will start at 10 am and continue until we are done. This includes inside and outside cleaning, raking grounds and overall sprucing up of our building and grounds.

2.  I will be having a meeting next week with Mark Harbin and Gene Stephens head of the jet ski race. We will be discussing our issues that were decided on June 15th, 2017 at a meeting that was held with the Board of Directors and the Officers. These issues surround around safety and providing our building for their function.

3.  I received a call this morning Thursday-6/22/2017 from the City of Whiting, informing me that the trailer parking area will be reduced to 18 to 20 spots. This is due to the parking issues that they anticipate for this new floating water park. As I was told, parking is becoming a premium at the lakefront. In our discussion I was able to guarantee 18 to 20 trailer spots. Any member that should happen to want to launch, even if all trailer parking is full, the City will provide us special parking. Please bear with me, as I do not have a lot of control over this parking issue. More discussion will be held at our next meeting on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

4.  I spoke with the Calumet City Harbor Coast Guard and we will be doing a boat safety inspection sometime in August. I know this is a little late, but David Mosca was in an extremely bad accident, so we had to set this up without his help this year. The date to be determined. I hope you all are enjoying a good summer so far and look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

Til Then,

Mike Hill WRBC Commodore

P.S. The Kids Fish Outing was again another great success. Thank you to Jim Madison and all the Volunteers who put this function together and made it again a great success. Thank you to Cabela's for their continued support. Pictures of Kids Fish Outing will be on the website and we will share more at our meeting this month.
