SUBJECTS:    PASSING OF AL SMALUK & DONATION MADE IN MEMORY OF FLO BRINGAS

For those of you who were at our Election Dinner last month Tuesday, February 23, 2021,we did a moment of silence for all who had passed away in the year 2020.  We will now start a new tradition of trying to post these passing's on our website as they occur.

RE:    PASSING OF AL SMALUK

Let me share with you all the passing of one of our founding members of the Whiting-Robertsdale Boat Club (WRBC) Al Smaluk.  Al passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at his residence.  Al was one of the original few who saw the value in having a club such as ours.  He and several others started the Whiting-Robertsdale Boat Club (WRBC) on July 1, 1941.  Al served for a number of years as the WRBC Commodore and thereafter as WRBC Treasurer for many years.  He will be truly missed by any and all who knew him.

Details on the wake and service:

RE:    DONATION MADE IN MEMORY OF FLO BRINGAS

Flo Bringas was a WRBC Member and had also passed away.  As we always do, a $50 donation was given in her name from the Boat Club. Her partner and WRBC Member, Melinda Rayter, matched that amount with another $50 given to Pets N Vets in Flo's name.

Again, from this day forward we will honor names of those who have passed from our club as we are informed and announced onto the WRBC website.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost loved ones in the past.

Thank You.

RE:   2021 BOAT CLUB DUES PAYMENT & 3-30-3021 MEETING AT AMERICAN LEGION POST 80

I know that there has been a lot of stress in the last year with the Covid Virus.  We did give everyone a break last year for those who had not paid their dues. This is now a new year and we are on the downswing of this virus. For any and all who want to continue to be members of the Whiting-Robertsdale Boat Club, I am letting you know that your dues are to be submitted by April 1, 2021.  We, as in the past, will extend this to July 1, 2021. After that you will lose your membership.  As of this date we have only received 76 paid membership dues out of 165 members. I am asking you sincerely to please get your dues paid within the next 2 months.  You can pay your dues at our upcoming meeting on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 again to be held at the American Legion, Post 80, 2003 Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, IN at 7PM.

Once your dues are paid, as in the past, you will need to obtain your Whiting Park parking sticker. You can obtain this sticker at Whiting City Hall from 8:30AM to 12:30PM. Please see Adi Cruz at the front office. The future of our clubs sustainability depends on you all.

Sometime in April, Adi Cruz' office will relocated to the Whiting Parks, Whihala Beach.

When her office moves, you will have to obtain the stickers at her new office location.  More information to come.

I can't stress enough how important it is that you get your dues payments to us.  As in the past, you can also mail your dues to Bob Mehok, 9838 Redbud Road, Munster, IN 46321 OR to WRBC, P. O. Box 749, Whiting, IN 46394 OR you can also slide your payment under the Commodore door at the boat club building and we will mail you your 2021 Membership Envelope.

RE:    2021 WRBC ELECTION

For anyone who was not at our election dinner in Feb. at Post 80, we held our first actual blind election
to replace Aurelio Melgoza for his position on the Board of Directors.  The two candidates who ran were Wally Kimmich and Jack Vetroszky.  The voting results were Wally Kimmich (41Votes), Jack Vetroszky (10 Votes).  The new position will be held by Wally Kimmich.

I want to thank everyone who helped set up, run & clean and/or those who have contributed desserts at
the Election Dinner.
