COMMODORE'S UPDATE: SUBJECTS: FREE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY VESSEL INSPECTION - CLOSED FOR SEASON WHIHALA BEACH BOAT LAUNCH - PERCH DERBY RESCHEDULED
RE: FREE COAST GUARD AUXILIARY VESSEL INSPECTION
This years FREE Coast Guard vessel inspection will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 starting at 10AM at the Whihala Beach boat club parking area. It is open to any and all members and public for any vessel, boat, jet ski, sail boat, etc. for safety inspection. This is for everyone's safety. Stickers for your vessel will be administered by the Coast Guard after inspection.
Please let's get a good turn out, as these Coast Guard Volunteers all receive credit for every vessel inspected.
As in the past, food and drinks will be provided by the boat club.

RE: WHIHALA BEACH BOAT LAUNCH CLOSED FOR THE SEASON 2025 FOR DREDGING
The City of Whiting has announced that due to low water levels and excessive sand buildup, the Whihala Beach boat launch is closed for the remainder of the 2025 season. These conditions have created hazardous launching areas, particularly in the coves, where boats are at high risk of becoming stuck or damaged. Public safety is top priority.
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE BOAT LAUNCH.
Plans are in place for dredging work to be conducted this Fall to help restore safe access and improve conditions for the 2026 season.
I have acquired free boat launching for all current boat club members at the Hammond Marina. You will be required to show your membership card at the gate, as they have a current membership list.
As in the past, if there is a problem, do not get into an argument with the marina personnel at the entrance gate. You can either pay or leave. Just contact myself, WRBC Commodore, Mike Hill at 219-937-2211 or WRBC Treasurer, Bob Mehok, at 219-644-9454 and we will resolve the issue.
